Trust in Allah and He will Suffice

In this beautiful story about Aisha, the mother of the believers, we get a glimpse at the strength of the Iman of the Prophet’s family and the Muslims of that time.  Sheikh Zahir Mahmood narrates how easily Aisha gives away the only food left in the house to a beggar, leaving nothing for her to break her fast, and trusts in Allah to provide. And lo and behold, right after she breaks her fast, Allah sends her a goat as a gift from a neighbour.

This trust in Allah, also called Tawakkul can be expanded into all aspects of our lives. At any instance, when it seems like all is lost, just trust in Allah, he is enough for his servants as a sustainer, protector and provider. This is also a reminder to those who try to gain wealth by any foul mean possible, that wealth is only from Allah and it is a test, what Allah decides to bestow, will reach you no matter what. And what Allah does not wish for you, even if you were to use every underhanded trick possible, will never be yours.

In the Quran, when Allah talks about the qualities of a believer he says:
“The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses are recited to them, they increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord.” (8:2)
